Kat Pattee, MD Selected for All NYC EM Fellowship in Medical Education Leadership
January 26, 2023
Dr. Katherine Pattee has been selected as one of three rising senior Emergency Medicine residents to participate in the All NYC EM Fellowship in Medical Education Leadership. She will join a long lineage of Maimonides EM residents and fellows who have previously graduated from the program, including Dr. Sally Bogoch (Medical Education Fellowship Class of 2018), Dr. Suman Gupta (Residency Class of 2019), Annemarie Cardell (Simulation Fellowship Class of 2019), Dr Duncan Grossman (Residency Class of 2020), and Dr. Riddhi Desai (Medical Education Fellowship Class of 2024).
Kat grew up in Colorado, made her way to Point Loma in San Diego for undergrad, went to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for medical school and then headed east to The Big Apple to confirm that the only thing Nebraska and New York have in common is the “N” and the “E”. During her time in Omaha, she served as the president of Do juSTIce, an organization that tests, treats and teaches incarcerated persons about sexually transmitted infections. Kat has continued her passion for advocacy by cultivating a series of lectures regarding patients escorted by law enforcement. She is a fervent believer in mentorship, Social EM, being open about professional struggles, and not wasting time on food that’s “just eh”. When not in the hospital, she enjoys exploring NYC restaurants with her incredible husband Luke, cultivating a forest of houseplants, daintily sipping tea, force feeding her friends, desperately trying to find places to hike, and seeking to avoid the sharp fangs of her beloved but moody cat, Schrodinger.
The mission of the All NYC EM fellowship is to prepare tomorrow’s medical education leaders through the mentorship, friendship and support of the leaders of today. ALL NYC EM provides two citywide conferences per year, two “Medical Student Bootcamps,” and an EM chief resident retreat. Fellows in this program gain experience in the content development, logistics, and finances required to put together these events. Each fellow will have the opportunity to give a lecture at one of the citywide ALL NYC EM conferences. Fellows gain experience that will help prepare them for an exciting academic career.
